The Storage Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and monitoring of enterprise storage and data protection systems. This role helps ensure the availability, performance, and security of storage environments across on-premises and cloud-integrated platforms.

 

Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, database, and application teams, this position assists with storage provisioning, incident response, and routine maintenance activities while developing technical expertise in a production environment.

 

Position Summary

  • Perform storage provisioning and administrative tasks in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Monitor storage and backup systems for capacity, availability, and performance; identify and address issues proactively.
  • Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests related to storage systems; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Assist with backup operations, data restores, disaster recovery testing, and data protection initiatives.
  • Support routine maintenance activities including upgrades, patching, health checks, and hardware lifecycle tasks.
  • Execute change requests and support production environments in alignment with change management and operational processes.
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to support business and technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to operational improvements and standardization efforts.
  • Utilize basic scripting and automation to streamline operational tasks and improve system efficiency.

 

Minimum Experience

 

  • At least 3 years of IT experience
  • Exposure to enterprise storage environments or infrastructure support
  • Understanding of storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and object storage
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Basic knowledge of backup and recovery solutions
  • Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell or similar)
  • Understanding of networking/storage protocols
  • Familiarity with hardware installation and configuration concepts
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and hybrid storage environments
  • Understanding of patching, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices
